Dr. Vijayakumar is a renowned Indian diabetologist with an international reputation. Dr. Vijayakumar is deeply involved in studying pregnancy and diabetes, incidence of AGT in pregnancy, the influence of diabetes education on metabolic control in NIDDM, the role of dietary factors in the progression of retinopathy and nephropathy in diabetics, and juvenile diabetes research.
He is currently associated with the Diabetes Medicare Centre in Chennai, Apollo Specialty Hospital, and St. Isabel Hospital, where he serves as a Senior Consultant in the Department of Diabetes and a Visiting Consultant in Diabetes respectively. His affiliation with these institutions is a testament to his valuable contributions in the field of diabetology.
An academic member of the Diabetes Association of India, the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), and the International Diabetes Federation, Dr. Vijayakumar has organized numerous medical workshops and has served in various capacities on professional bodies such as Vice Chairman of the Ethics Committee at Dr Mohan’s Diabetes Centre, Chennai, and President of the Andhra Pradesh Diabetes Federation in 1999 and 2013.
